We are seeking a hands-on engineer to support our broad research portfolio by working within a talented team of chemists and research engineers from bench scale through piloting. The primary responsibility for this position is operating and maintaining our pilot-scale continuous reactor system.
Responsibilities
In this role you can expect to:
- Troubleshoot equipment / process issues and work with researchers to execute experiments
- Use sound engineering practice to set up and commission equipment
- Work with lead researchers to plan experiments and collect, analyze, and report data
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance of operational equipment
- Raise operating issues to technical staff
- Work with electrical engineering staff to ensure controls, automation, and data logging are functioning for each project
Required Education & Qualifications
- BS in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering
- Hands-on research activities in a laboratory or industrial setting
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge and experience of fluid mechanics, mass transfer, and heat transfer
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in an industrial environment
- Knowledge of process control and instrumentation
- Familiarity with bench marking, project planning, and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of basic chemistry laboratory instruments and practices e.g., titration, filtration, Karl Fischer, and ICP-MS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of lab and safety procedures and protocols
- Experience with chemical processing
- Ability to understand and work within a technical environment
- Ability to prioritize competing projects
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, results driven and collaborative
- Demonstrate leadership ability and initiative
